A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child is when most people would say that the franchise took a sharp decline. Even if you weren’t a big fan of 4, you definitely preferred Dream Master to Dream Child. The biggest issues are the lack of deaths, the quality of characters, too much focus on the pregnancy and Jacob, and the overall lack of a quality story. With that being said, we must also acknowledge that this had some beautifully shot scenes, some very imaginative dream sequences, and it was a direct sequel. The franchise took an extra year in between this and the next installment as they attempted to figure out the future of Freddy.
