This has been on my too watch list for approximately 5 years now. Sometimes, I just get a little forgetful. This is supposed to be pretty extreme. To quote IMDB “Rated NC-17 for extreme sadistic graphic violence and gore”. There’s that at least. It’s another foreign film, I think it’s French. I don’t know about you, but I am a little excited about this one.
I got engrossed in this pretty quickly. Here’s where we are at. Some political election has caused huge upheaval and rioting in France, and cops are just arresting everybody. So this group of 5 teens, early 20’s people, 4 dudes, and a chick are thieves. One guy got hurt, he is the brother of the chick who is also apparently pregnant. I think she is pregnant by one of the other dudes. Well her and the one dude drop off her brother to the hospital, and he’s basically gonna die it sounds like.. The other 2 dudes are looking for a hotel, or a place to crash for the night. They come across this one place, and one guy is more the party animal, wants to fuck anything he sees. The other dude is the timid guy who is trying to keep his wits about him. The guy and girl are supposed to be meet up with them in a few hours.
This one jacked German dude is like the German HHH. So the brother, Sami, is in fact dead. The girl is named Yas. I am trying to figure out the other 3 guy’s names. The cocky guy is making all kinds of problems. His name is Tom. Well now they have caused issues. All sorts of bad times are a coming. My HHH guy is named Goetz. This movie is very intense. That’s the best way I can describe everything so far. Farid is the timid guy, who is dating Yas, Alex is the guy that traveled with Yas and also knocked her up I think. I think I got all the names right now. This is pretty much a different take on Texas Chainsaw Massacre in a lot of ways. With that knowledge, I am extremely happy. TCM is one of my all time favorites. It’s a new take on a classic, and i’m ok with that. It’s different enough to be it’s own.
Now it’s time to kick back and enjoy the rest, à tout à l’ heure. That’s for my French speaking contingency. Farid just used a sledgehammer. That’s my second HHH reference. Shit, another thing with the damn Achilles tendon. Well, we had a brief glimpse of boobs, so hooray for that!
That was a very good movie. It’s extreme in violence and gore, but it is done well and properly given the circumstances. You can honestly predict how a good chunk of this will play out if you’ve seen much horror. That doesn’t make it any worse though. Sometimes the obvious ending is the right ending. I get sick of these writers over complicating things with twists all the time. Some work, other times, just go with what works. I’m going with a 7.5 and was honestly considering an 8. Yeah, I really loved this one, but I reiterate, I am a huge fan of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I’m definitely recommending it.
