I saw this recommended on The Strangers: Prey At Night IMDB page. I didn’t like that movie but felt compelled to try this one. The premise was solid. I will say that I made a wise decision.
The story starts off with Pauline and her two daughters, Beth and Vera. Beth is an aspiring horror writer and has a ladyboner for HP Lovecraft. Vera is more your typical teenage girl. She feels that he mom favors Beth. They end up having a home invasion and it goes poorly. Years later, Beth returns the house to see her mom and sister.
I cannot say anything beyond that. I do implore you to give this one a try. Things aren’t what they seem, and then they change again. It is constantly evolving. I thought this borrowed from a few films and made it into this very unique story. I can’t reveal those films without potentially giving things away. I did read someone compare it partially to Martyrs, and I don’t agree with that assessment fully. I can sorta see where they are coming from, but that was such an extreme film, well the French one was. The American one never happened, it never existed.
I thought all of the roles were played very well. Both versions of Beth and Vera were played very well especially. Sadly, there was a bad accident with the actress who played Young Vera, Taylor Hickson. I will leave the link to Wikipedia if you wish to read about it. Sounded awful.

Rating: 6.9 – I think this may age well for me, but I’m not sure. I will definitely rewatch it next year. It was a pleasant first viewing.

I am doing a GoFundMe to help pay for the costs to keep 9deuce.com up and running. I don’t make any money off of the site. I do it because I love it, but it is expensive at times, and I had to recently renew for 3 years. So I am asking any of my readers to consider donating if they have the extra funds. If you don’t, I get it. It would mean a lot to me.
