Splatter is a 29-minute short film on NetFlix. On IMDB they treat it like it was a tv series, but this felt like a standalone short. After some research, I found this on Wikipedia and it helps explain the final product a bit better. Not so much in the form of spoilers, but production and concept.

The story is that rock star, Johnny Splatter, played by Corey Feldman, has killed himself. Five people are invited to the reading of his will. There’s his psychiatrist, a guitarist, a chick he used to love, a groupie, and I think his former manager, played by Tony Todd. Basically, Johnny felt pissed off at all of them, and this is his way to get revenge from beyond the grave.
The special effects are very silly. Corey Feldman tries his best, but the material is very weak. Tony Todd is the only one who feels like he is a professional. I blame the material more than the actors, but boy, this was a fucking travesty. I somehow got bored and it was only 29 minutes long. I really like the girl who played the groupie, Fiona Crown. I was pulling for her. Unfortunately, there were lines such as “Don’t be cruel……Krule” in which Johnny was talking to his former love, Krule. Yup, that was her name and I swear it was just for the terrible one-liner.
The saving grace is that this is short. Still, you can do something better with your 29 minutes. Midget porn, clean the house, eat 29 Slim Jims, organize your closet, play with your pet(s). I really wanted to like this because I love Tony Todd and I like Feldman. Hell, Joe Dante directed this, and he gave us Gremlins. This was too difficult for a project to do without a bigger budget. They wanted fans to vote on who should be killed next and do these like 10-minute installments. Realistically, the best way is to film for every scenario ahead of time, but they instead opted to do week to week and it just didn’t work.
Rating: 2.2 – The idea was there, but not much else was there beyond Tony Todd. I’d love to see someone try to do this again down the road. It could be really fun. This one, I would probably avoid, but it’s on NetFlix if you are curious. Admit it, you are a little bit curious.

I am doing a GoFundMe to help pay for the costs to keep 9deuce.com up and running. I don’t make any money off of the site. I do it because I love it, but it is expensive at times, and I had to recently renew for 3 years. So I am asking any of my readers to consider donating if they have the extra funds. If you don’t, I get it. It would mean a lot to me.
