I didn’t know what to expect. I saw Frank Grillo was in it, and I was sold. Shree Crooks is really the star here. She plays Stephanie and Frank plays her father while Anna Torv plays her mother. They are really the only characters that you get to know. You may know Shree from American Horror Story Hotel. She was Wes Bentley’s daughter in that.
So the story is simple, on the surface, as most horror is. We know that Stephanie is alone in this really nice house with her stuffed animals, notably Francis the turtle. She talks to him a lot. She also talks to Mr. Hopper, a bunny that visits the backyard. Unfortunately, Stephanie is not alone as there is an evil presence with her, and her dead brother. Her parents return and things are weird. We know from news reports that this is happening across the world, whatever it is. I will not spoil that, but it’s actually pretty damn cool actually.
The scares are really there early on prior to the parents return. With that being said, the pacing never really slows down. The mystery starts to unfold, which is what is happening in the world, and specifically in that house. It’s a very simple story, yet executed beautifully. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone because it’s simple, creepy, and a good reveal. The acting is great by everyone. I didn’t really like the mother, but I get why she was portrayed that way, and I do feel that is was acted well.
Rating: 6.7 – I don’t know why, but I really have no complaints and want to watch this one again soon enough.

I am doing a GoFundMe to help pay for the costs to keep 9deuce.com up and running. I don’t make any money off of the site. I do it because I love it, but it is expensive at times, and I had to recently renew for 3 years. So I am asking any of my readers to consider donating if they have the extra funds. If you don’t, I get it. It would mean a lot to me.
