“Born in Sin, come on it. Born in Lust, turn to dust.” – Andre Linoge
This character never gets enough credit for being one of King’s best character creations. He’s an awesome bad ass with a cane that I can never find to buy online. Seriously, find me that cane and I will buy it. “Give me what I want and I’ll go away” as Linoge would say. The story takes place on the Maine Island called Little Tall as they are gearing up for one bad ass storm. Linoge starts off killing an old broad and then proceeds to mindfuck and kill a bunch of the islanders, all while trying to let them to know they better give him what he wants. Linoge wants an apprentice to carry on his work once he is gone, and so he wants one of the 8 children. If they do not agree to this, he will make all the people walk into the ocean and disappear like the settlers did in Roanoke Virginia back in the day. It is alluded that Linoge was directly involved in that. Lots of fun deaths here, especially for a made for ABC movie. 4.5 hours long, really ruined my flow, but it was necessary. My mom and I like to watch this every Thanksgiving. I know, we’re odd.
As far as the acting goes, it’s hit and miss. Tim Daly as the main guy plays his role very well. Colm Feore plays Linoge and truly steals the show in every scene he is in. And of course there is Jeffrey DeMunn of Shawshank Redemption, the Mist, and Dale on the Walking Dead. His character is kind of a douche, but he is trying to help, he is just not very helpful. In the end, does the town agree to offering up one of their kids to protect the rest of the town’s population, or do they all just get got? Well obviously they agree because that is the more interesting story arc. It is a great morale dilemma, and this is a meaty movie. I highly recommend it, as the characters are great, like the actors really played their roles well. There’s so many positives and so few negatives, I highly recommend this movie to anybody. I am giving it an 8.2. Really fun movie to watch. What say you Little Tall?
