Welcome everybody to a new feature that the 9 Deuce Horror group is now offering. We are doing a month Top 5 list on the horror genre for the foreseeable future. We are also bringing back the one horror film a month blog. Finally, we will also have a monthly podcast discussing both of these things plus more. Please look forward to all of these new features.
This month, I wanted to start with something that every horror fan has an opinion on. That is the music and songs that are in horror films. I had my writers attempt to break things down into 2 categories: theme instrumental songs and real songs that play during the film. We tried hard, I can say that. I will do all of the themes first and then the songs separately afterward. My name is Kent and if you see any comments in bold then they are from me unless otherwise noted.

Final Observations
For themes, I would say Halloween was clearly the winner being so high up on many lists. After that I would say that the next tier below would include The Exorcist, Jaws, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday The 13th, and Saw. For songs, Cry Little Sister was practically unanimous. After that, there was a lot of love for the Queen of the Damned sountrack in general, even Kristi mentioned that, in particular to me. Beyond that, there’s a few songs that got like 2 nods apiece like Dream Warriors, I Still Believe, Midnight Rider, Paint It Black, Sympathy For The Devil, and Bad Moon Rising. Honestly, I could have done about a top 50 for songs without an issue.
I had a lot of fun with this. Next month we will be doing Top 5 Zombie Films, so it will be a shorter read, but hopefully just as much fun. If you want to share your list with us, leave a comment. I’d be happy to read them and respond to you.
Here is our podcast that Chris and I recorded which is an audio companion to this list, but more in dept.
