This week, we finally got the episode that I think all AHS fans have been yearning for since the announcement of this being a crossover season. Yes, seeing the witches for the first time was a great moment, but this was everything we wanted. We got updates and explanations from Constance, Ben, Vivien, Tate, and Violet. Moira finally got some closure in one of the best scenes in AHS history. We got to see how Mead entered into Michael’s life, and we got to see Michael flex his muscles by basically erasing dead people. There is so much to say about this episode, and while this blog can’t do it justice, we tried like hell. If you’re new to the blog, my name is Kent and I ask the questions and get some unique answers. Any comments in bold are from me unless otherwise stated. Please enjoy!

- Give me your thoughts on Constance’s story.
Raylene: It seems she is finally at peace in her home with most of her children. I do wonder if they found Addy’s bones and buried them at Murder House if she could join them. (Would that be a good or a bad thing?)
Cece: I loved her story. It was so sad, really. But I truly feel like she’s finally happy and found her ‘purpose’. (Yeah, compared to all the other restless souls there, I think this was a great outcome for her, all things considered.)
Eric: It was sad. (I’m challenging myself to respond to each of your responses with a video.)
Melanie: She found some peace finally with her children in the afterlife. She was a terrible mother though. So, the children are not at peace. (Yeah, it’s like, hey that’s great for Constance, but will somebody PLEASE think of the children? That is a Simpsons reference.)
Tom: Well it did seem like a happy ending for her, in typical dark AHS fashion. We’ve learned that Michael can burn ghosts from existence so I fear for her future. (Yeah, ain’t that some shit? I mean on the scale of badass powers, that ranks incredibly high. To the point where I am curious how these witches are going to defeat him. It’s like defeating Superman.)
Kayleigh: I enjoyed the story. I would have liked to see Addy. But I am glad she’s not stuck in the house. Lange always tells a good story. (I’m conflicted on if she would be better off in the house or not. Would she be tormented or protected? Yes, it’s a bad place, but with familiar faces.)
Kelly: I think she created a great story of empathy for her character. She just wanted to be a mother so badly and sadly, all of her children ended up being “monsters” of some sort. I think it was a wonderful story of Langdon. It’s so heartbreaking she ended up taking her own life. (Yeah, I think the best thing was the emphasis on her desire of being a good mother, but things not going as planned. It really was an interesting way of doing it.)
Kent: I felt that this was probably the story that Jessica could come back for and be happy with it. It was all sorts of things, sad, touching, all of that stuff. Best of all, it was really well done and well told by Jessica. This was must-see TV, in my opinion.
- Give me your thoughts on Ben and Vivien’s stories.
Raylene: I think they will end up working things out it seems like they already have since Vivien said to go to your son which I’m not sure she has in the past. (I think that was the first time in years, if ever.)
Cece: Their story seemed to be the least shown. However, I think they will end up together, happy in the end. (Yeah, it was tough to come off the Lange high and go to this story, but it was equally good, just different.)
Eric: Who are Ben and Vivian again?
Melanie: Maybe Ben will stop masturbating while crying and staring out the window and now stare at Vivian and masturbate while crying. (Wait, why change what works?)
Tom: It would be nice if Ben could whack it without the waterworks. I think they’ll work it out. (Tom, I’m just saying, you’ve never truly experienced the pleasure of whacking it with tears in your eyes staring out the window into nothingness. It will blow your…..mind.)
Kayleigh: I’m glad all the questions got cleared up about Langdon. And it seems like Vivian and Ben will have a happy ending. (I think there aren’t many choices. If you have eternity to spend there, you may as well try to make the best of it.)
Kelly: Called it with him torching Viv. Thankfully, Tate saved her. We can’t have Murder House without Connie Britton! And thinking about Ben… Man, the people in that house just wanted to be parents – I’m talking all through the years. Now that it’s been years since that season premiered, you just look back at it and feel sorry for those people. (Yeah, the aftermath of everything, that season can be analyzed on so many levels. It’s crazy how in depth that season truly went, which is why it still remains one of the most beloved seasons.)
Kent: Ben’s was the better story, Vivien’s provided us something to be happy about, I think. I loved how Ben tried to connect with Michael. It made a lot of sense to go that route.
- Tate and Violet were able to finally make peace. Moira was laid to rest to be with her mom. Which of these things did you prefer?
Raylene: I do like Moira is finally at peace and with her mom now
Cece: Moira’s story brought tears to my eyes. I fucking love Frances Conroy.
Eric: Moira because she apologized to her mother and got to be with her. (I admit this is a lazy response, but I love this song.)

Melanie: Moira’s storyline. I cried like a baby. I haven’t cried like that over this show since Twisty.
Tom: Violet and Tate’s story is fine, young love, blah blah blah. I prefer Moira’s story. Being freed from the house, meeting her mother again, getting forgiveness and peace of mind that she ended her mother’s suffering.
Kayleigh: I kind of liked how they ended it in season one, with Violet never talking to Tate again. So I prefer Moira’s burial at the cemetery with her mom.
Kelly: Moira by far was the best. Hell, my husband even teared up a little. He said it was the most beautiful scene of any of the seasons. I agree, it was a perfect moment. I am glad Tate and Violet have finally reconciled, but it was a quick little tie-up of that loose end that we didn’t get to appreciate as much as we would have at the end of the original season. Kind of bad timing, I think it needed a little more attention. (Yeah, the timing, it was almost unfair to be like the 5th biggest plot point of the episode when that could have been THE plot point of other episodes.)
Kent: I feel bad that I lumped Tate and Violet into this question, in hindsight. I know, some weeks I should just suck it up and ask more questions. Moira is my pick, just like everybody else. There are not many characters that I feel have led as tortured of an existence on television than she did. Also, Frances Conroy may be one of my 10 favorite actresses. At least 15. Really, the Tate and Violet thing is a huge story, and yet, due to the number of other things in this episode, it just couldn’t compare, which is sad. It probably deserved better. Also, really glad to see that people were crying.
- We got a chance to see the story of the 3 Satanic worshippers including Mead as well as Naomi Grossman, who was Pepper in Asylum, ya know, the one with the weird hair. Mena Suvari of American Beauty fame (the blonde) was also in this episode as the Dahlia. Give me your thoughts on this part of the story. Was it good, fun, silly, etc?
Raylene: I thought it was a tad stupid I have no idea why I felt that at the time maybe I thought it was going to be expected to have Satan and his spawn in a season called Apocalypse. (Well, lessons have been learned, have they not?)
Cece: This was absolutely awesome! I loved when Michael stepped back and Satan appeared over his shoulder. I loved getting to see Mena again! (The imagery of that was something really cool, for fans of that stuff.)
Eric: Fun I guess (It was a toss-up between this and Sympathy For the Devil, but I couldn’t decide which version of the song I wanted to use between Rolling Stones, Guns N Roses, or Motorhead, so I just went with my original song in my head. I just wanted to explain the process.)
Melanie: Loved seeing Naomi Grossman as another character besides Pepper. I thought Mena Suvari was awesome. Also, the nod to the #metoo movement was brilliant. (Yeah, now that you and I have had a chance to chat, I recall the scene. “The things you have to do to be a star.” was a nice subtle reference. So subtle that my dumbass forgot about it. I will say that I was also elated about Naomi’s appearance.)
Tom: I was surprised at how brutal the human sacrifice was. I’m not sure why it stuck with me, maybe the way he cradled her heart as she expired. (It was pretty brutal, ya know, I rather enjoyed. It wasn’t pretentious though.)
Kayleigh: I enjoyed it. I wanted to start chanting khali-ma KHALI-MA! (Yeah, like this wasn’t going to happen.)
Kelly: A little disturbing. I’m not religious, but I have an issue with satanic things so I did have to look away for a little bit. (I can see that, because I didn’t turn away.)
Kent: I didn’t know that was Pepper until I looked her up. I also originally messed up the question about Mena. I’ll just say it, I’m an idiot. This all was great and tied so much together for us fans. The appearance of Satan was really fun.
- We see Dinah in next week’s preview. Will we get the return of Marie Laveau (Angela Bassett’s character from Coven)?
Raylene: I thought she was in the preview for next week Marie Laveau I’m probably confusing the characters. There may be some voodoo magic to take down Langdon. (You know what’s coming next.)
Cece: Heck yeah! I think so! If even just for a cameo flashback or something. (Remember that song “Word Up” by Cameo? I liked that.)
Eric: Yes! She is a witch and they need witches.
Melanie: I hope so. I loved that character so much. (If we get around to doing a podcast about this season, I want to pose this question. Was Coven really great, or was it just that the characters were so damn good compared to the plot?)
Tom: Who knows, actors and actresses get 3, 4, maybe 5 different characters this season. I saw Papa Legba in the preview so Laveau would make sense. (Do they get paid by the character? If so, Evan made out really well last year.)
Kayleigh: Badass. I really enjoy that character. Plus my man Papa Legba. I love that he has a coke nail. (Hopefully, Coke runs commercials this week. Also, you and Tom said Papa, and well that can only mean one thing.
Kelly: That was my prediction last week, Kent, but you neglected to add that into my posting. *Stands with arms crossed and tight lips.* But we’ve already addressed that so we’re good. (Yeah, let’s pretend that I have a really good memory during October and may not make a few oversights. When it happens in November, I fully expect to be made fun of.)
Kent: Here’s the thing, as of this moment, I give zero fucks about Dinah Stevens. By the end of this week’s episode, that may change, or I may dislike her more. I can only hope for a cameo by Bassett. I’m open to many cameos, but aside from Axe Man, she’s probably the one I want to see most given the story currently. Did they run Axe commercials during season 3?
Final Thoughts – The next episode is called Traitor. Who do you think will be the traitor?
Raylene: Well damn I don’t know I was hoping Constance wasn’t only a cameo appearance. (I do believe it’s a one off, but as pointed out on this blog, I get a lot of things wrong.)
Cece: Hmm. I honestly have no clue!
Eric: Melanie told me that Billy Porter, Behold Chablis, is the traitor against Michael and his brethren warlock. (I didn’t have much for this, but I always enjoy when you copy your answers off of Melanie’s paper. I did a search for Behold, and well, I got Motorhead on the first page, and I was sold.)
Melanie: I think Billy Porter, Behold Chablis, is the traitor against Michael and his brethren warlock. (It’s a really good theory, especially based on what we know and what we’ve seen in the preview. My only grudge is that I didn’t think of it first. I’m totally jelly.)
Tom: I’m guessing the traitor will be someone who betrays Cordelia. Madison would be a likely candidate. (If Melanie isn’t right, I think you are close in that a witch will be a traitor, but Madison was there to help resurrect Dinah, Coco, and Mallory. What about a witch who didn’t make it to the dance? Also, isn’t Madison almost too obvious?)
Kayleigh: That’s a good question. Queenie was a traitor in the past. And they all can be little bitches who play dirty. I just hope it’s not Misty. (As I said in my response, this was my initial thought. I think it’s one of the witches that wasn’t there for the resurrection, so not Cordelia, Madison, or Myrtle. We have wondered where Zoe, Queenie, and Misty have been. Out of those 3, Queenie struck me as the most likely candidate. I don’t foresee Zoe doing it, she kinda seems harmless. Misty would be the biggest shocker, but could be compelling.)
Kelly: Someone from the Coven, perhaps? I’m not confident enough to make a prediction yet. (What, you don’t enjoy making bold proclamations and find out that you were wrong the following week? That’s pretty much my gimmick.)
Kent: Well, I really wanted to go with Queenie. Then Kayleigh had to go and RUIN it by taking that prediction. So screw it, I’ll predict Angela Bassett. Why the hell not? Please don’t be Dinah because I don’t want her character to be terribly useful. Queenie is the better choice. I will toss out 2 dark horse picks. I will say that Fiona has to be in play, hopefully along with Axe Man. Also, what about Madame Delphine LaLaurie? Okay, one other pick, Denis O’Hare….as himself.
