In Fear The Walking Dead’s third episode of season 6, we find out that Al and Dwight are out videotaping many things, come across a mortuary, an office building with survivors and the bubonic plague, and someone finds true happiness at the end while another lives in loneliness. My name is Kent, and for Fear The Walking Dead, I only ask 5 questions and some final thoughts to make this blog a little more compact for your reading pleasure. Any comments in BOLD are written by me. I hope you enjoy.
1. If given the choice of Dwight reuniting with Sherry or Al reuniting with Isabelle, which would you prefer?
Bob: Dwight and Sherry, always. Never the other two. (I need a TWD cliche to come into play with Al and Isabelle. Just as soon as they do finally find happiness, one immediately dies. Al is probably the choice because of her one-dimensional character.)
Raylene: Dwight and Sherry just needed a break after everything they went through because of Negan. Al’s storyline as of late is just terrible. If they had expanded on the tape of Abe and scientist I would be more to like her. (Well, it sounds like a new show in the TWD universe will be arriving soon enough. It sounds like it will be an anthology series to show us quick stories from past characters. Abe will definitely be one of them. I want to see Eugene’s and Bob’s. There is one I am looking forward to most of all. Please show what happened to the Vatos of season 1! Also, I would be fine with a Sophia one. You have to replace the actress, but that would be fun. But you don’t have Herschel either.)
Kent: Honestly, Al’s character bores me when she doesn’t have the camera or her truck. Those were two of her defining traits, and the last one is her sexual preference. Remove those 3 things and Al is a very dull character. I like Dwight a lot and Sherry seemed cool, so I much prefer their reunion.
2. Who do you think is behind the rats carrying the plague?
Bob: I will go with this being a naturally occurring event regardless of anything we learn. I think maybe there are some original rats that a weird janitor kept as pets. (Was the Janitor named Willard or Ben? This clip is not for the weak at heart or cat fans.)
Raylene: I’m going for a stretch with this theory incorporating that it’s Stephanie’s group who Eugene was supposed to meet. I have a feeling they are not a good settlement that’s the only reasoning I have. (So not only does the CRM have multiple locations, now you’re suggesting that the Commonwealth has more locations as well?)
Kent: Sherry’s group, whoever they may be. Now I know that there are many possibilities. CRM seems most likely because they conveniently have Cipro just waiting on the roof. Still, that is boring. Give me something lacking in logic. I will say that Sherry is part of a group and they aren’t really good people. Probably the group with the sub. Also, are we ever going to see the kid group again or will they be forgotten mostly?
3. Do you think there is anything more to the mortuary that Al and Dwight visited?
Bob: Ahh no, but that was the weirdest zombie by far though. It was actually creepy. (It was actually quite creepy, which I must applaud because, after 16 combined seasons, it is difficult to come up with a creepy zombie.)
Raylene: Definitely that walker looked like she was just embalmed. I say someone is creating walkers to do sinister things with them. (Did someone just mention Sinister?)
Kent: Yes. I will say that Sherry was part of a group that was also involved with that place. They like testing people. We will call them the Jigsaws. They want to play a game.
4. Will this group in the office led by Nora be a one-off situation or will we see them again?
Bob: I think they will be seen again, but I am not seeking it…. (I prefer Britney Spears “If You Seek Amy”.)
Raylene: I saw we see them a few more episodes but will be killed off by the end of the season. (Definite possibility knowing this show.)
Kent: We will see them one more time. Nothing about them stood out and the writers had the opportunity to develop the characters and opted not to. So I don’t think their characters really matter in the grand scheme of FTWD. I liked Nora, though.
5. Should Al have let Isabelle know that she was on the roof?
Bob: I am very tired and bored of narratives in TV shows. (I am tired of ESPN paying their writers and TV personalities extra cash every time they use the word narrative. I have no facts to back this up, but it is very clear to me.)
Raylene: I think Al just didn’t want to perhaps put Isabelle in a compromising position with the black suit group maybe getting her killed. (Oh, I think Al wanted to put her in a compromising position. Yeeaah! I’m not proud of what I just did.)
Kent: Sure, why not? Give Al’s character something/someone to do this season. If she died, then she died trying and that is a worthwhile try. Just ask 50 Cent. Al doing nothing reminded me of one of the all-time best early Simpsons’ lines. It is one of the early Treehouse of Horror episodes and Lisa is telling Bart the story about The Raven. They build up suspense, but nothing was there. So Bart says something like: “You know what would have been scarier than nothing? ANYTHING!” That’s how I often feel. Go to 1:35 of the clip if you’re impatient.
Final Thoughts – I want to know what your GMA (Glenn Memorial Award) nominee is this week for the most ridiculous or silly thing that happened this week. Dwight got the bubonic plague, Dwight finally found Sherry, Al JUST happened to find the Ciprofloxacin that they needed to treat the plague, there’s a random group of survivors, etc.
Bob: Think of it like Cube. Have to get through the building to get the Cipro. Maybe I don’t believe it was natural after all. Anyway, yeah, the masks with the plague and also being symptomatic within hours. That would have to be a militarized or enhanced version of it. Usually, it takes at least two days for symptoms. Maybe working with Al really killed Dwight’s immunity. (Your answers have told a better and more fulfilling story than the Cipro storyline. And mentioning Cube will always result in happiness. But as you know, I like the blue room. Also, if we have some militarized plague, that would be as captivating as Alicia having radiation poisoning. I may have to change the GMA award to AARP for the Award for Alicia’s Radiation Poisoning.)
Raylene: How wasn’t Dwight’s plague noticed sooner? I would imagine he’d felt awful. I really also don’t think Isabelle would’ve so easily turned away from the rooftop with someone new on the radio I would’ve thought they’d see that as a threat and took the building out. (Protocols….yeah, that’s the answer right there.)
Kent: The absolutely conveniently placed Cipro made me laugh quite a bit. I really was planning on listing Dwight catching the F’N bubonic plague, but this was just a bit funnier.
Wait, I was still watching the Simpsons Raven video. This treat came up afterward. Trust me, you need to watch this.
