The group needs to get out of the hospital and Morgan makes that happen while trying to make peace with Jim. Alicia and Charlie rescue John and Strand and then everybody joins up together. Martha gets captured. Oh, and someone dies. My name is Kent, and for Fear The Walking Dead, I only ask 5 questions and some final thoughts to make this blog a little more compact your reading pleasure. Any comments in BOLD are written by me. I hope you enjoy and if you or someone you know may want to do this blog, contact me, leave a comment, whatever. The contact info is at the bottom of this blog.

- Do you like optimistic Strand better than brooding moody Strand?
Bob: Yes, but only as long as things are going his way. (Things have not been going his way too frequently since….well since they found Abigail, the ship, not the man.)
Raylene: I do like the occasional optimistic Strand but before too long he’ll go back to brooding moody Strand. All it usually takes is one hiccup in a plan for him to give up his optimism. (He is a calculating individual. It’s how he was successful in the before time. When you have everything mapped out and think like that, improvising is a harsh mistress. That’s why he broods I feel.)
Kent: Optimistic Strand can be the most manipulative guy in the room, the snake oil salesman, and I love that quality about him. I can relate more with moody drunk Strand though, unfortunately. Ya know, because I’m moody all the time, not the drunk part….unless I’m drunk. (You’re drunk.) (Shut up, nobody’s talking to you!)
- Why did nobody supervise Martha in the vehicle? Is there any possibility that Morgan or the group change Martha’s perspective enough to where she could be a productive member of the group?
Bob: She isn’t changing. She is a severe mental illness due to trauma. (This is the REASONABLE response. Probably the RIGHT response.)
Raylene: They were not thinking to leave her unsupervised, which was a dumb move, but the show can be full of them. I don’t think you can bring her back from the abyss in her mind she is too far gone. Like when Governor slaughtered all his people after the fall of Woodbury. (You were soooo close to making the right reference. Governor is synonymous with too far gone, but the episode you are referring to is called “Welcome To the Tombs”. The episode called “Too Far Gone” was the midseason final of season 4 when Herschel, Governor, Meghan, and Mitch all got got. It was also Volume 13 of the comics which includes issues 73-78 which is when the group first arrives and settles into Alexandria including all of the Pete and Jessie stuff and when Pete kills Regina (Deanna in the show) and has a group similar to the Wolves.)
Kent: Tara used to be “too far gone” and now look at her, a thriving member of a very split and broken community. Anything can happen. I am cautiously optimistic that she can turn around or last long enough into next season because I think she is such a great actress and character.
- Will we get another big death in the season finale?
Bob: No.
Raylene: I am going to say perhaps Martha or Morgan gets bite. (Morgan ain’t getting got. Morgan don’t die. If he gets bit, I will shave my head!)
Kent: With Jim going down and Madison and Nick earlier, I don’t think so. If it is going to be someone, it’s Luciana. Morale compasses like to get got.
- Did Jim die a hero in some capacity? Any final thoughts on Jim?
Bob: Yeah, I was glad he finally achieved being a responsible human being. No way was his brain intact after that jump. (It was odd seeing Jim being responsible.)
Raylene: Yeah I guess he did create the distraction but he didn’t want to be a walker so he really didn’t get what he wanted. I felt Jim was just an expendable character other than the beer he brought nothing to the group. (Jim brought drama and finger pointing. Those are invaluable skills in a zombie apocalypse show.)
Kent: He died a hero in that his distraction allowed others to live. That is what we tend to consider heroic, right? I liked Jim because he was a dick, but he was passionate about something in life, and to me, that is somewhat relatable. I get why he is not well liked, but he was one of the more realistic characters in this show. The ZA will really make you think in different ways, and I felt that this was a good example. Plus, I like beer. Cheers, Jim!
- What do you think that Jim quietly told Sarah when giving her beer-making instructions?
Bob: Most likely a spice OR the removal of one ingredient. (I love the idea of the removal of an ingredient knowing that it was likely they were being listened to. I just wish I had thought of it first.)
Raylene: Perhaps a rare ingredient I am not familiar with any alcohol making process (It’s liquid bread. It’s good for you.)
Kent: The timing of when to add something seems paramount and without knowing the timing, you could have nasty brew after nasty brew, or so my inclination goes. I want some Octoberfest Sam Adams now.
Final Thoughts – Do you like when the group always ends up reuniting in some capacity every single season, or do you find it unrealistic or cheesy?
Bob: I like the cheesiness. It’s hope! (Ahhh, the power of positivity. I like to believe in the power of cheese, but to each their own.)
Raylene: First of all I believe in the preview for this episode they showed Wendell and Charlie together so can you call that a win? At this point it is almost expected for the gang to reunite in the walking universe. In reality I feel it wouldn’t happen so easily. (Hold up! You’re going to pretend that I remember what I may or may have not seen in a preview? Ha, laughable man! I don’t remember that at all. Now I am going to see if I can find it.)
Kent: First off, last week I asked you who you would like to see Wendell paired up with. I said Charlie. Did you SEE that happen? Now time for me to get 9 things wrong in a row to make up for getting lucky once. It’s silly, it is predictable, but it’s also the point. It’s fun to see them all get together so they can split up next season. There’s been so many good moments of that happening in both shows, yeah, I’m a sucker for it. Also, why do they keep reminding me of Carl? Another kid wearing a hat is unacceptable.
