This week, we meet a new “evil” group called The Vultures, see a little girl turn heel, and meet Naomi. We also learned about life at the baseball field. All of this and more in this week’s blog. My name is Kent, and for Fear The Walking Dead, I only ask 5 questions and some final thoughts to make this blog a little more compact your reading pleasure. Any comments in BOLD are written by me. I hope you enjoy and if you or someone you know may want to do this blog, contact me, leave a comment, whatever. The contact info is at the bottom of this blog.

- Let’s start off with a big revelation. The group has been at the ballpark for a year when everything goes bad. How long in days/months/years do you think it will go between this episode and when Alicia, Strand, Nick, and Luci ambush Morgan, Althea, and John?
Bob: 2 years. (Wow, I would be fine with that. I love this season because it has so many unknown elements that make this pretty fascinating.)
Chris: I’m guessing maybe a month. All the crops were dead, they weren’t going to be able to hold out long. (Maybe they still had large cans of nacho cheese. That stuff can last awhile, right? I think it’s going to be shorter than 6 months, but that’s about the extent of what I have to offer.)
Kent: I’m guessing 3 months. Time-frames in this show is very odd. A month is probably more accurate, but Madison is super stubborn.
- Naomi is played by Jenna Elfman, and had an interesting start on this show. Do you think that she is trustworthy? Do you think she will be alive by the end of the season?
Bob: As long as the cowboy lives!!! I bet she lives past this season. (You really enjoy John Dorie. I honestly don’t blame you. He’s a character that would only thrive on this show, not the original.)
Chris: I think she is trustworthy. She could have easily killed Madison and didn’t. I think she will survive this season, and I base that….. on absolutely nothing! (Isn’t it nice to have nothing to base it off of? I am enjoying that. I did find it weird how they could have easily taken her down, but Madison was so relaxed about it. It’s definitely unique for the show.)
Kent: Being the eternal pessimist that I am, I am saying that she dies this season. I like her character though. She has medical experience and we know how that goes. Doctors don’t fair well in the ZA. Why they aren’t a more valued commodity is beyond me. Yes, she’s not a doctor, but any medical experience is invaluable in the ZA.
- Did you suspect that Charlie was with The Vultures or did it catch you off guard?
Bob: I was caught off guard. Not 100% because she wasn’t acting like her parents suffered a terrible fate. She played it well. (Yeah, the way that she was articulate but avoided certain things in the way that a child trying to lie does tend to do, but given the situation, you could understand why she would have so much trepidation.)
Chris: Caught me off-guard! I should have realized something was up when she was playing with the Walkie-Talkie, but the Vultures hadn’t appeared yet. It was a great twist. (Yeah, the walkie-talkie was such a dead giveaway but I simply couldn’t put my finger on it. I had sensed that maybe she knew of a way to communicate with a family member perhaps, but I quickly disregarded it.)
Kent: Clean sweep for us being caught off guard but in a good way. In hindsight, it’s all right there, but at the moment, it was something unexpected.
- What are your initial impressions of The Vultures? Do they bring needed excitement or do they feel relatively mundane for your tastes?
Bob: I like the subtle confidence they have. I also enjoy this Demilitarized zone between both groups. (This is a group of subtleties. Even had I not read the comics, I knew The Governor was bad news for the group, and same for Negan. They had such bravado. Here, it’s a different style.)
Chris: Too early to tell. The group needs to have adversity. They could have come up with something different, but the Vultures seem interesting. They are kind of like laid backed Saviors. (I feel that Fear goes through adverse situations really fast. After season one, you have the boat, then the Mexican farm, then the feud between Otto’s family and Qaletaga, and the whole thing at the dam and Proctor John. It’s like TWD drags everything out and Fear just gobbles up stories and moves on as fast as they can.)
Kent: I like Ennis on his bicycle. I am way more interested in him than Mel. I hope someone altered the bike music to be Queen’s “Bicycle” on YouTube. You know that’d be hilarious. This is just another obstacle, but an obstacle that will kill some red shirts and at least somebody relatively important, even if it’s just Naomi, for instance.
- Who’s the bigger jerk: Charlie or Mel?
Bob: Charlie!
Kent: Charlie no doubt.
Final Thoughts – How long until we find out where Daniel Salazar is?
Bob: Soon I hope but I feel like this is how this season will end. (I love his character and I felt short-changed on his role last year in some ways. I hope you aren’t right, but I could see that being the case.)
Kent: Daniel disappears too much on this show. I’ll go with midseason finale.
