My name is Kent and I write the questions every week and I have a great group of people who answer them. If you are familiar with some of the other TV Show blogs that we do on the site, then you will recognize most of the names. If you would like to participate in the blog and answer my inane questions, please contact me at kent@9deuce.com. Please enjoy!

- Did the pew scene deliver for you this week?
Kristi: It was ok. I wasn’t sure at first but I liked the outcome. (I was thinking, geez, this is going in a dark place fast.)
Raylene: It was good I at first was thinking damn FX you are going to show violence on a child but it’s a smart play getting kids on your side to be spies. (Child violence is so rarely touched upon, even in horror. FX probably won’t consider it….probably.)
Eric: Better for me this week. Not into torture so… (Yeah, I can see this being more Eric-friendly.)
Melanie: Again, not with the kids! Better out some but the kid thing throws me off. (In reality, it makes sense, but it is still somewhat shocking for us to see it on TV.)
Kent: Absolutely! I was really happy with it and then the end part where Nestor mentioned the kids may be diseased, Galindo’s reaction was fantastic.
- 2 part question. A) Did you expect EZ to do more to the trash talking cop? B) Did you WANT EZ to do more to the trash talking cop?
Kristi: I thought he would just walk away from it. I wanted him to be the bigger man and walk away. Why put your club in a negative position with the cops. Sure, they are asshats, but it’s not worth it. (I think this was a really good way to really differentiate EZ from Jax. Like, you know damn well Jax would have started a brawl, but that isn’t EZ’s style, at least not yet. I agree, it totally wasn’t worth it.)
Raylene: Yes I did think he would. It seems EZ was fighting with his memory of shooting the cop since it was 8 years earlier. I thought there were a better time and place for him to do something too many witnesses at the casino. (I wonder if he didn’t have those memories, would he have been more aggressive.)
Eric: I didn’t want or expect more trash talking. He knows he can’t mess up. (He has so many things going on, it would be foolish for him to do anything, but this is a Kurt Sutter show…so yeah.)
Melanie: Neither. I feel bad for him. He is so tortured. (I am hoping this torture of his will help keep him more balanced.)
Kent: Yes to both. This seemed like the perfect place for one of those Kurt Sutter fight scenes, like last week at the animal shelter. I like EZ a lot, and I like how he handled it, but I am a sucker for cheesy fight scenes too.
- A lot of people suspect Galinda will get got by the end of the season. If you had to pick one other character that you think may get killed, who would it be? This isn’t who you want to get got because everybody would just say Emily.
Kristi: I have to go with Angel. He will eventually come out as the rat and it’s not going to go well. (I was actually going to ask a question about whether Alvarez would correctly figure out who the rat is. It may be an upcoming question on a tamer week.)
Raylene: I think the MC will take out Angel Reyes because they find out he’s the leak and I also think that Felipe will shoot Jimenez because he’ll feel they are pushing EZ too hard and putting his life in more danger. (I can see Felipe doing that. I would like some flashbacks on him. Like, I can kinda see a bit of Daniel Salazar in his past, which I would thoroughly enjoy. Also, Ruben Blades would be a great guest star.)
Eric: Felipe will get got. (Well Eric, it seems like us guys are picking Felipe. We’re either going to look smart or……well you know.)
Melanie: Angel will get got. (It’s a clean sweep for the ladies picking Angel.)
Kent: I worry for Felipe’s safety, despite him being one of the bigger named stars in the show. They put a lot of attention on him.
- All of you are in my AHS blog group as well. Which show has better music: AHS or Mayans/SOA? I included Sons to add a bit more depth.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEv-xVjyJ_o
Kristi: I have to go with SoA. I loved the music in that show. I’m a little disappointed with the music in Mayans so far. (I really enjoyed the music when they got to the casino this week. I didn’t like the main theme song, but it is growing on me. Still, I have one song on my phone for an alarm, and it tells me that the Crow flies straight, a perfect line. That really was one of the all-time great TV show theme songs.)
Raylene: I’ll be silly and say AHS because we got to see Lange singing in the asylum season hence your favorite song (I said I would boo people in the AHS blog, and this is no different. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!)
Eric: AHS has better music because it is suspenseful and dramatic. (I am a fan of more suspenseful. I don’t even know which show I have more songs for on my computer. It’s all about the mood I would say, or what video game I am playing.)
Melanie: That is like comparing apples to oranges. Both shows have music that is appropriate for both shows. I really like both for different reasons. I did not see SoA, so not really sure about that one. (I would speculate that in totality, AHS would be more your jam. I am going to link a nice playlist of Sons music. I listened to it Wednesday night and really enjoyed it. Some songs were really good, some just fit the moment perfectly. I will say that AHS does go a little more off the beaten path, but sometimes it really pays off.)

Kent: I didn’t think it was fair to only have 3 episodes versus 7 full seasons plus 2 episodes. The thing is, I think I know more songs that have been used in AHS so familiarity makes me happy. But I go back to Sons and I remember Katey singing some good covers. Both shows have used House of the Rising Sun, I believe. I think by virtue of my taste in music, I will side with the Kurt Sutter collection. Gimme Shelter is involved and that is one of my all time favorite songs. On top of that, there Grandes Pelotas Del Fuego by Puta Madre Brothers, and there was an amazing cover of You Are My Sunshine. I am already loving what Mayans is giving us. Both shows rank possibly in my top 3 shows when it comes to music. Oh, and Sons had Tom Waits.

This has the playlist that I referred to earlier. Not all songs are great, but for my particular taste in music, I would say I enjoyed about 70% of the songs.
I would feel remiss if I didn’t at least link this song as well because it has been a mainstay on my playlist for the past 6 years.

- Did the little boy having a cut on his end surprise you at all, like did you see it coming? Be honest.
Kristi: I did not see it coming. I honestly had no idea where that scene was going. I didn’t feel like they were going to kill the kid. I was thinking of losing a finger or something. Was pleasantly surprised by the end result.
Raylene: No I did not see it coming but I am happy with that plot twist it was a smart move by Miguel.
Eric: No
Melanie: I was actually thinking that poor boy will get killed like the rest of that group because the girl brought them in. Then I realized that he IS going to get the group killed. (That is the interesting aspect. Will, he actually screw the group over or will the boy have a change of heart? I have been wondering about this. I feel Los Olvidados makes you feel like family, but I am sure that he is scared to death of Galindo. It could go either way.)
Kent: Looking at everyone’s responses, it was a pleasant surprise for us. The honest answer is that I was pleasantly surprised, I didn’t see it coming. In all fairness, it took me about 90 minutes to watch this 45 minute episode because my headache was so intense that I had to keep rewinding. I may have caught this had I been on my AA-game but I clearly wasn’t, and I like being surprised.
Final Thoughts – Which scenes did you prefer: the stuff at the casino or the scenes with Felipe (EZ’s father)?
Kristi: I preferred the scenes with Felipe. Although anytime I see casino scenes I do get a little homesick. And I am with Raylene here, why would Emily not put her hair up! She is the only person with blonde hair in the entire square and took her sunglasses off as she is walking by the people who took her kid. They lost me a little on that scene.
Raylene: I enjoyed Felipe the more I see of him the more I like. Also to go off topic here really Emily I won’t be recognized so your disguise is a baseball cap and sunglasses. Then you get to your destination and you take the glasses off oh no nobody will notice that bright blonde hair under that cap with your face showing….. (The hatred toward Emily continues to grow, and it’s entirely warranted when she does something this silly. I do wonder, would Gemma have been this stupid? We know Tara would have been, but Gemma was smarter but possibly more irrational at times. Still, Emily is about as dumb as they come.)
Eric: Scenes at the casino
Melanie: Casino scenes.
Kent: I love having an odd number of people on here because it’s nice when the opinions are fairly down the middle. I ask questions like this and then I think to myself “Dammit, I don’t really know the answer.” I think I will go with the casino because it had a bigger variety with the Chinese death scene, the cops, the counting cards, a nice variety. Still, Edward James Olmos is stealing every scene that he is in.
