The Purge 9 Deuce S:2 Ep:2 “Everything is Fine”

This week, Esme started investigating the professor’s death, Ben is being weird, Marcus knows that there is a bounty on his head, and Ryan is researching. My name is Kent and I write the questions every week and I sometimes have people who answer them.  If you are familiar with some of the other TV Show blogs that we do on the site, then you will recognize most of the names.  If you would like to participate in the blog and answer my inane questions, please contact me at kent@9deuce.com.  Please enjoy!

1.  Even if Esme uncovers the full truth about who killed Professor Adams, does it really matter?

Kristi:  I think it will. She seems like a pretty smart chick so if she thinks something is up, I feel like it will be interesting.

Kent:  It would only make sense for this to have a resolution that matters.  That is like a quarter of the season’s story. I have this weird gut feeling that even when she finds out the truth, she will never get the truth out there.

2.  Are we on the verge of finding some government experiment based around violence that the Professor was working on?

Kristi: Wait, there was a professor? I must have zoned out on that part. Being my true self for this question. (Yup, note in question 1 that we are talking about Esme tracking down the info about Professor Adams.  I should have been more clear. My bad. I think they call her Drew as well.)

Kent:  I have really been into government experiments lately, in the fictional sense.  Stuff like Firestarter or Stranger Things with Eleven. My hope is that Prof. Adams is knee-deep in some government experiments, and they eventually capture Esme for getting too close.

3.  Did Marcus’ wife set the bounty for Marcus to get killed, via Ivory Road?

Kristi:  I was thinking this from the beginning. It is usually the spouse. Although, because he is a doctor, I am thinking maybe the family of a patient he couldn’t save could also be an option. (Hmm, I would love a John Kramer type storyline.  John is Jigsaw for those who may not recognize the name immediately.  I think that would be a cool way to go about it.)

Kent:  As I am watching this week’s episode, early on I am thinking it’s gotta be the wife.  Then the preview for next week’s episode talks about it. So now I am having my doubts that it is going to be her.  Addressing something that big in the 3rd episode seems like it would be too soon. But maybe she has someone on the side.  The side person could be someone who ties in with another character that we know. I think that is going to happen a lot this season since the main characters are supposed to be interconnected supposedly.

4.  Ryan is trying to figure out the truth of where the big money goes so he can better prepare for next year.  Is there any way that they can save Tommy or is he as good as dead?

Kristi:  Ryan seems pretty determined and smart. I feel like he will find a way to get him to safety. (I have been trying to find out if you’re allowed to break someone out of prison during the Purge.  I’m also curious if you’re a prisoner and you kill during the Purge, does it count against you? That is where Tommy’s story could truly become compelling.)

Kent:  I initially said that Tommy would come to resent his crew while in prison.  I still think that may happen, but this recent episode made me significantly less confident in that prediction.  I am curious about this money truck business. This seems like a fun distraction with a silly payoff.

5.  Ben is acting weird and has a new Purge obsession.  I think this story is dumb so far. Would you play the Purge simulator game?

Kristi:  I would like to say I would play the game but in all actuality, I would end up procrastinating and never actually play it. (And you made me laugh.)

Kent:  Before my head injury, hell yes I would.  I have found that I cannot handle VR games, so, unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy that.  I don’t enjoy Ben at all. I hope that his story improves.

Final Thoughts – Is there any way in hell that Marcus would have been allowed to leave work early given the day and his job at the hospital?

Kristi:  No, no there is not.

Kent:  Cue Vince McMahon’s music because there’s No Chance In Hell.  This was poorly done. Just wait until his shift is over and do the story.  It’s not that complicated!!
