The Purge Ep:6 “The Forgotten”

This week, we got Joe’s backstory this week, Rick continues to be Jenna’s bitch, Jane has totally botched her mission, and Miguel and Penny are still at the Carnival.  It’s Kristi and I trying to go over the important developments of the week. Any comments in bold are made by me, Kent.

I am doing a GoFundMe to help pay for the costs to keep 9deuce.com up and running.  I don’t make any money off of the site.  I do it because I love it, but it is expensive at times, and I had to recently renew for 3 years.  So I am asking any of my readers to consider donating if they have the extra funds.  If you don’t, I get it.  It would mean a lot to me.

  1.  Why is Rick such a little bitch and why does he tolerate Jenna’s nonsense?

Kristi: He loves Jenna so he is trying but it’s seriously to the point that he needs to man up. If he lets Lila in for Jenna’s sake, I give up on him. I think about the movies and as soon as they open the gates, shit will go down. He needs to put his foot down and protect that baby. Screw Jenna. It’s all about that baby right now.  (You mention the gates, and this all feels like the very first Purge film when the boy let that guy in.  If people want someone inside, they will find a way in.)

Kent:  I thought Jenna was the biggest bitch in the show, but she is making Rick her bitch, so that crowns Rick as the biggest bitch in the show.  I want him killed ASAP. I was on his side in all of this, but grow a pair of balls put her in her fucking place. If the roles were reversed, I’d be telling Jenna to fuck him up.  I want Rick to meet Joe.

  1.  We finally got the Joe flashbacks.  Did this make you like Joe more?

Kristi: I think we both know flashbacks are my jam. I love knowing the history of people. Joe is awesome and I’m happy to see more of him. (We are both suckers for flashbacks.  It really helps tell the current story.)

Kent:  Yeah, I mean, he’s already my favorite character, but this just added to him.  He’s the most relatable dude on the show. I really was happy with this and would have been fine if Rick and Jenna had been executed in 20 seconds to make more time for Joe stories.

  1.  Joe has seemed to be a rescuer but is listening to a man encourage Purging.  We then see him pull up a picture of Jane. What do you make of this?

Kristi:  I’m not sure on this one. Maybe he has some kind of inside scoop of her hiring the assassin and knew what the outcome would be. He seems to know what is going to happen before it does so he has a game plan for sure. I hope he is too late. She needs to get got. Who hires someone to kill then goes to the asshat’s house to save him? Makes no sense. (I’ll go along with your theory and wonder if Jane’s mom somehow knew Joe and reached out to him.)

Kent:  I don’t really know.  He seems like a good guy, but what if he is collecting people for his own Purge?  I think that he is still a good guy, but they have me second guessing myself.

  1.  Jane’s guilty conscience brought her to David Ryker’s home.  The assassin is dead, and Ryker started making sense before they made him into a comical over the top exaggeration of a powerful man in this country.  Did you find Ryker’s portrayal ridiculous?

Kristi:  He needs to die. That is all. (The whole house can explode this week and wouldn’t really care at all.  The whole story there, it screamed of Ryan Murphy.)

Kent:  Was this part written by a brain-dead irrational feminist?  Fuck man. This was so over the top. We get it. Rich powerful white men are the devil and get away with doing whatever to women.  Thank you, Hollywood for making this country weak as fuck. This nonsensical agenda was sickening. Yes, there are some evil rich men.  There are evil people of every color, income level, and so on. This was actually embarrassing to watch as a fan. I am officially saying that Ryker is my second favorite character now because if you’re gonna be the bad guy, make sure to be as outlandish as possible!  Hey, it worked for Freddy Kruger!

  1.  Do you really feel sorry for Jane anymore?

Kristi:  I didn’t feel bad for her in any of this series. She is entirely too whiney for me. Like if you are going to hire an assassin,  go with that shit. I’m rooting for the maids to go kill all of them. (I would like to find out that the maids are a branch of Los Olvidados.  For those who don’t know, that is a Mayans M.C. reference, a show that is on FX at the exact same time as The Purge.  Still, a man can dream.)

Kent:  Nope. I don’t feel sorry for her.  I don’t feel sorry for the assassin.  I don’t feel sorry for Ryker. All of these people are bad people.  Only one of them has an ounce of charisma to be mildly entertaining though.

Final Thoughts – Henry stalled too much and got got.  Miguel and Penny are on the run. Will Rex get his vengeance on Miguel before this season ends?

Kristi:  I think he will. As I said before, our main characters are sure to die. I don’t want it to be Miguel but I think it is definitely possible. (As a fan of horror movies, we have 6 main characters in Joe, Jenna, Rick, Jane, Miguel, and Penny.  You know as well as I do that at least 2 of those men are as good as dead because that’s what horror has drilled into our brains.  Men are expendable in horror. Miguel seems the most likely, in my opinion. Something else for Penny to dwell on.)

Kent:  I told all of you last week that this shit was gonna happen.  Henry procrastinated. That was the big thing that we were supposed to take away from last week’s flashbacks, in my opinion.  The proof was in this episode. Moron had too much to say without much of a plan. Even if he started to fuck up Miguel, he was running out of time to really do all that he wanted.  Henry was a fuck up and I’m glad that he got got. I wish he would have maimed somebody first though. I am cheering on Rex now. Just for clarification sake, currently, in the 4 stories, I am cheering on Joe, Ryker, Rex, and Lila.  Lila pisses me off the least, but if the maid is an option, I choose her.

I want to say, if you are a fan of the second or third Purge films, and you liked Frank Grillo, then I highly recommend checking out a film called Stephanie.  It’s on NetFlix.  I recently reviewed it and I really enjoyed it.  Here’s the link in case you are interested.
