In part 2 of our Wentworth Season 7 blog, we talk about Liz’s death, Boomer’s relationship with her mum, Jake the good guy, and Allie the idiot. The season ended with a familiar face. It was another season with less and less familiar faces. We had 4 deaths, a couple of hostage situations, an appearance by Frankie, but nothing truly compared to the final scene when we saw the face of the Freak. This has left fans rejoicing. I’m breaking this blog into 3 parts. There are three of us. Any comments in bold are made by me, Kent. Thank you for reading, and please share this with your friends, or leave a comment with your responses to the questions.

5. Jake is seemingly a “good” guy now. Did you like him more this season? Shouldn’t the whole damn staff pretty much be fired at this point? Did you like the new doctor (Greg Miller)? How the hell hasn’t Will learned his lesson yet?
Raylene: Jake was alright. I could’ve done without the him being bisexual storyline but I guess that’s tv now. Most definitely everyone should be fired. The new shrink is ok. He needs more character development. Will is just an idiot. (I think we’re all in agreement that the bisexual storyline seemed incredibly tacked on for the sake of 2019. It really didn’t add much of anything. They could have achieved similar results using other methods, but it is what is. I wonder if you hate Will more than Rita.)
Jamie: I liked Jake at the very end the rest of the season I could’ve done without a bunch of details of his past . Yes, they should be fired but I imagine some of this stuff truly does happen. Will pissed me off a lot. I wanted them to almost go ghostly and have him hear his dead wife telling him you dumb idiot (I love the idea of Will hearing from Meg. Yes, I had to look her name up. I also forgot about Erica and Jacs. I miss the first 4 seasons.)
Kent: Jake was such a horrible character initially that it’s very difficult to redeem him now. This isn’t a Negan situation where you hate him but he entertains the hell out of you. Yes, he was 2.9% more likable this season. I didn’t like the doctor all that much. Very bland. I miss Gidget. Will gets to stay until they find someone who can do some of the Will stuff. Jake is just very different from Will. Will deserves to get some STD at this point. I’m not even trying to defend him anymore.
6. We finally got more insight into Boomer by meeting her horrible mother, May. Do you feel that having May’s story was important in building up to Boomer’s final scene with Liz?
Raylene: I do believe we needed May’s story and character. She was just incredibly awful to Boomer. I don’t know if Boomer could’ve done what Liz wanted without May pushing her to her limits in the end. (Boomer needed to have that motherly love and reciprocate it. May’s presence simply made things more clear in Boomer’s mind, I think.)
Jamie: I was happy to see Boomer’s story and I think May’s character was important to building up to that scene. I loved Liz and was sad to see her go but the scene was played out perfect (I can’t imagine them doing a better death for Liz. I’ll go so far as to say may have been the best death on the show so far.)
Kent: All of this was good stuff. There were times that were cringeworthy with how May treated Boomer, like very uncomfortable, and in that regard, they absolutely nailed it. This was a story that they plotted very well and executed even better than normal. I do believe that this story had to be told so that Boomer could carry out Liz’s wish.
7. Speaking of Liz, she may have had the roughest season. Do you think that she found happiness in how she was able to say goodbye to Artie? Was it selfish of her to ask Boomer to finish her off?
Raylene: I think she was finally happy to know her son loved her and had forgiven her. I don’t think it was selfish.
Jamie: I think she did find happiness. It was sad that Artie did want a relationship with Liz and then she had to leave. Boomer was the closest person she had in there that she thought of like a kid so I think it was fitting to ask Boomer
Kent: I’m not sure if happiness is the term that I would use, but perhaps solace. There were so many emotions that came along with it. There was a feeling of finality to how her and Artie left it and I think that given the circumstances, this was the best case scenario. I will say that it was selfish to ask Boomer to do that. Selfish doesn’t have to always be considered negative. If I were in Liz’s situation, I would have asked somebody to take me out too. Still, to ask someone who was due to get out of prison so soon, that one is tough. AND this is why they killed Kaz. Dun dun dunnnn! You wondered why, but if Kaz is alive, Liz asks Kaz and not Boomer because Kaz is in there for life and she also cared very much for Liz. So there’s your answer.
8. Is Allie perhaps the dumbest character on the show or is she just emotionally unstable?
Raylene: Allie is dumb yes my third character I loathe. (Okay, so would you kill off Rita, Will, or Allie next season, if you only get to kill one?)
Jamie: Like many women I know, they always need to have someone and can’t go on without someone. (Mmmmhmm, and while some guys are that way, looking at Will, I think it is more predominant with women.)
Kent: They have truly squandered Allie as a character just to further this god damn Marie story. So not only is Marie super F’N lame, but she dragged Allie down big time. I liked that Allie helped Bea find some happiness, and I had hoped that they would have elevated Allie up the ranks as someone who learned from Queen Bea. Nope, they reverted her character to this garbage. It’s sad.
